Boxseat Newsflash: Immigration Changes
[ Pitopito kōrero ]Keep up to date with what is happening in the firm.
This year the Government announced a number of proposed changes to immigration policy that change the eligibility criteria for Residence Class Visas (under the Skilled Migrant Category) and some Work Visa categories.
The main changes were to introduce income thresholds for eligibility for skilled migrant residence visas, and to differentiate between low skill level, mid skill level, and high skill levels. A stand down period will be introduced (to require a work visa holder to return to their country of origin after having held a work visa for a set period) before they can apply for another work visa. We have summarised the main changes in the table below. These changes are expected to take effect in August 2017.
