Women in Leadership
On Monday 19 February 2018, Gloria Campbell, Regional Commissioner for Social Development - Taranaki / King Country / Wanganui, came to speak at our Women in Leadership event which a large group of women attended and were inspired by.
Gloria shared her career journey which began in the public service, in 1978 when she commenced in the position of Benefits Clerk in Stratford for the Department of Social Welfare. She subsequently worked in a variety of roles in the public service and was appointed as the Work and Income Regional Commissioner for Taranaki King Country Whanganui in October 1998.
Some of Gloria’s key messages were the importance of humility in leadership, having your door open to the people you work for and the people you work with and the need to balance her leadership role with other interests (such as getting her hands dirty cleaning our stoat traps for the Taranaki Kiwi Trust).

Women in Leadership events provide an opportunity to network (while enjoying good food and drink), share stories, and give and receive help and support. We enjoy speakers from diverse backgrounds who inspire and encourage their audience with their experience of leadership.
